Auditing AI-Generated Content Before It Goes Live

Plenty of sites now contain pages nobody fully read before publishing. That is worth fixing, not because AI wrote them, but because unreviewed text has predictable failure modes that cost trust and rankings.

The four things to look for

  1. Invented specifics. Statistics without a source, standards that do not exist, product features you do not offer, service areas you do not serve, and prices that are out of date or fictional. Check every number and every named thing.
  2. Contradictions with the rest of the site. A generated service page saying you offer 24-hour service while your contact page lists business hours. These conflicts are common and they are the ones customers notice.
  3. Generic filler. Paragraphs that could appear on any competitor's site. They do not rank, they do not persuade, and they make the rest of the page look weaker.
  4. Broken or invented links. Internal links to pages that do not exist and external links to sources that were never checked.

Prioritize the audit

Do not start at the top of the list of pages. Start with anything that makes a promise: service descriptions, pricing, guarantees, policies, and anything with a legal or safety dimension. Then do the pages receiving traffic. Blog posts nobody reads can wait.

What to do with each page

  • Fix if the topic is right and the substance is thin: add real specifics, correct the facts, cut the filler.
  • Merge if you generated five overlapping pages on one subject, which is a common pattern. One good page beats five thin ones competing with each other.
  • Delete if the page exists only because a tool produced it. Removing weak pages can improve how the rest of the site is assessed.

Then set a policy

Nothing publishes without a named human who has read every word and can defend the facts. Keep a short list of things AI may never draft unreviewed: prices, guarantees, legal text, safety information, and anything about people. That policy costs almost nothing and prevents the failures that actually damage a business.
