Use AI to Draft, Not to Publish

Publishing AI output unedited produces text that is grammatical, confident, and interchangeable with your competitors'. The problem is not quality in the abstract. The problem is that a model cannot know the things that make a page worth reading, so it fills those gaps with plausible generalities.

The edit pass that makes a draft yours

  1. Replace every generality with a fact. "Fast turnaround" becomes "most repairs finished the same day, larger jobs within a week." This single pass does most of the work.
  2. Delete the throat-clearing. AI drafts open with a paragraph restating the topic. Cut it and start with the situation the reader is actually in.
  3. Add the thing you would say out loud. The caveat, the opinion, the "honestly, most people should not do this." That is what makes a page sound like a business rather than a brochure.
  4. Verify every claim. Statistics, standards, prices, product names, and regulations. Models produce confident specifics that are subtly wrong, and a wrong specific is worse than no specific.
  5. Check the internal links and calls to action. A draft will invent page names that do not exist on your site.

Where AI is genuinely better than the blank page

Outlines, alternate headlines, tightening a paragraph you already wrote, summarizing a long document, drafting alt text and meta descriptions, converting notes from a job into a structured post. In every one of those, you supply the substance and the model supplies the shape.

Disclosure and honesty

You do not owe readers a disclaimer for using a tool. You do owe them accuracy. If a page carries a byline, the person named should have read every word and be willing to defend it. That standard, applied consistently, solves most of the ethical questions people raise about AI content.

The practical test

Read the finished page and ask whether a competitor could publish it verbatim. If they could, keep editing. Our own AI builder is designed around the same idea: it gets you a real draft in a minute, and the value you add afterwards is the part that makes it work.
